Finally Surefire Gets if Right: The Stiletto

For a very long time I have seen the Lumens race and the complexity race take the personal light to almost ridiculous levels. Rather than "brighter is better" perspective some industry people have, I take the position that the light should be bright enough, not not excessively so. As well, being compact and easy to carry is just as important - maybe more so because the light that is uncomfortable to keep with you, or that stands out ridiculously in your pocket, will likely be left at home. My perspective is not at all theoretical. I base my opinions on fifteen years of police work mostly during hours of darkness and several gunfights in reduced light. Oh, and I am not getting free flashlights from Surefire to promote their products.

My purchasing staff bought the first Stiletto from one of our distributors for examination and when I first saw it, it looked more like a folding knife than a light - hence the name. I have been working with this light for about a month now and I believe it is the best personal carry light on the market.

  • Tactical switch activates high output and an optional tactical strobe when white light is used as a fighting tool.
  • Programming switch unlocks activation sequences to choose between tactical and/or task illumination preferences.
  • Integrated MICRO-USB rechargeable lithium polymer battery is environmentally friendly and reduces the cost of operation.

Here are some comments from guys that bought it -

"Even at a low level of charge there is no dimming even on the highest setting."
"Having the ability to use two switches, one for selecting brightness levels and one for full power tactical mode means that I can choose to carry only one flashlight instead of one exclusively for tactical and another for mundane chores."
